Restoring the historic resting place of the Whipple family and their descendants.

The Whipple Family Legacy

By the opening decades of the 1800s, the Whipple family was firmly established in Ashford, Connecticut. Descended from the Providence, Rhode Island, line of John Whipple, early generations had moved into Windham County before the Revolution. They cleared farms along the route of the old Connecticut Path, once a vital link between Boston and Hartford, and transformed the upland forest into fields, orchards, and homesteads. By the turn of the century, Whipple families were part of the fabric of Ashford’s rural community, leaving a legacy still marked today in the town’s cemeteries and records.
